Tijdens Mister Grand International 2017, dat in Brazilië gehouden was, behaalde Marvin Halde als eerste Surinamer de 6e plaats.
Hij gaf een dankwoord in het engels als volgt: “There are no words to say how grateful I am to be the first Surinamese male delegate that made it to the top finals international. Thank you for the Support, Motivation and Believing in me everyone, especially from my country Suriname. Also all the people in Brazil. I couldn’t have done it without you. Muito obrigado Brazil, Porto Alegre”.
